connect

A Noiseless Patient Spider
by Walt Whitman
A noiseless patient spider,
I mark’d where on a little promontory it stood isolated,
Mark’d how to explore the vacant vast surrounding,
It launch’d forth filament, filament, filament, out of itself,
Ever unreeling them, ever tirelessly speeding them.
And you O my soul where you stand,
Surrounded, detached, in measureless oceans of space,
Ceaselessly musing, venturing, throwing, seeking the spheres to connect them,
Till the bridge you will need be form’d, till the ductile anchor hold,
Till the gossamer thread you fling catch somewhere, O my soul.

  1. i want to laugh and pat Whitman on the head and say a small yes, yes, yes, walt, ok, yes.

but then i want to shout and jump into the air into your photograph and shout one, for only one is needed when it is shouted just right, YES!!!

  2. A smile at Erin's comment. :) One gigantic YES.

And then I was thinking about connecting the dots...and if those morning spiders spew forth the morning dew and then follow all the droplets in their own measureless oceans of space.
