The worst is not death but being blind, blind to the fact that everything about life is in the nature of the miraculous. The language of society is conformity; the language of the creative individual is freedom. Life will continue to be a hell as long as people who make up the world shut their eyes to reality.
― Henry Miller, Stand Still Like the Hummingbird
Reading this feels liberating to me this morning.
ReplyDeleteCoincidentally, I've just accepted a poem called 'Cemeteries' for TPT.
Great photo, and I'm delighted to see another quote from Stand Still Like a Hummingbird. Miller always nails it!
ReplyDeleteThis grabbed me at Stand Still Like the Hummingbird before I read anything else, Ruthie!
ReplyDeletewhat more can be said of this? it is truth.
ReplyDeleteand yet, how do we then institue the paradigm shift (our age old question:) so that all recognize the miraculous?
your photograph is...an incredible metaphor which can be read at length. (i would like to see it black and white and stand before it for a long time studying what we almost know.)
